Transforming Retail: The ICA Stop Supermarket Experience

Discover how the ICA Stop supermarket in Täby, Sweden, transforms shopping into an immersive experience.

In the world of experiential marketing, creating environments that captivate and engage customers is more important than ever. The ICA Stop supermarket in Täby, Sweden, designed by Snask in collaboration with Westblom Krasse Arkitektkontor, is a shining example of how retail design & fit-out can transform a shopping experience into something far beyond the ordinary—a culinary dream come true.

The ICA Stop is more than just a supermarket; it’s a playground for food lovers, a space where shopping becomes an experience. This project exemplifies how event management companies and event organisers can leverage innovative design to create immersive brand experiences. From the vibrant and playful aesthetic to the thoughtful layout that guides customers through a journey of discovery, the design is a masterclass in how brand activations & experiential strategies can be seamlessly integrated into a retail environment.

The supermarket's design draws inspiration from various food cultures around the world, offering customers a visually stimulating and sensory-rich environment that encourages exploration and engagement. It’s not just about buying groceries; it’s about experiencing food in a way that is both practical and aesthetic. This approach aligns perfectly with Lyra Studios' mission to create brand experiences that are both playful and impactful.

Key to the success of ICA Stop's design is its ability to balance creativity with functionality. The supermarket features distinct zones, each designed to evoke different culinary experiences—from the bustling energy of a market in Asia to the refined elegance of a Parisian patisserie. This strategic zoning not only enhances the customer journey but also makes it easier for them to navigate the store, find what they need, and discover new products along the way.

Incorporating experiential elements into the design was a critical component of the project’s success. For example, live cooking stations and tasting areas are strategically placed to invite customers to interact with the products and engage their senses. These features are not just about providing a service; they’re about building a connection with the brand, turning a routine shopping trip into an event that customers look forward to.

As well as the refreshed interior, Snask also worked on the branding for ICA Stop, creating an identity and logo refresh that embodied interior design features.

At Lyra Studios, we believe that the future of retail lies in creating spaces that are not only functional but also emotionally resonant. The ICA Stop supermarket is a perfect example of how retail design & fit-out can be used to create a space that is both beautiful and effective, driving customer engagement and loyalty through experiential marketing.

At Lyra Studios we’re committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in brand activations & experiential. Whether you're looking to transform a retail space or create an unforgettable event, we’re here to help you make it a reality. The ICA Stop is a testament to what can be achieved when creativity meets strategic design—an inspiring model for any brand looking to elevate its customer experience.
